Aslan, the Dark Prince
Got around to find some bits, more specifically Chaos bits to make his armour look a little more 'archaic' in terms of MKV armour. Still WIP but as you'll see I'm making him true scale thanks to a tutorial provided by Dan. My first true scale Space Marine and here he is so far:
So far so good, right?
The torso is currently held on with blutac until the GS cures then I can glue him on and finish off the details and finish filling in the gaps.
However I'm stumped for which head to use. Again using Chaos bits I've decided between these two heads, the ones that still look Imperial but dark and 'heresy' pattern. Tell me what you think:
I'd say the one with the optics would suit a Devastator more but I seem to like how plain the ordinary head is suiting MKV. However in rule terms Aslan's armour is specifically Devastator Armour with the "Death from afar" power armour history so I guess an optic lens would suit him better. What's your opinion?
Remember I'll also be green stuffing all of his robes including a hood. A Dark Angel isn't complete without a dress.
I hope you enjoyed and please feel free to leave C&C and anything else you might want to say.

Update (Day 2)
Bad light today so the pictures aren't as good but I've stuck the body to the legs fully and decided on the head, also with some battle damage above the 'good' eye. If you read Aslan's fluff you'll note it is off Tyran's chainsword after wrenching it off. Got old (shit) Aslan next to him as a comparison, new Aslan is only a little taller despite being true scale but his legs are positioned so they look like they're bracing (To have a shit) with the heavy weapon, making him a little shorter.
Also made him a ceremonial sword out of P-card, not the best craft with the serrated edges looking a little jagged, you can't really see in the pictures but the crafting is fairly poor (But I'll use my shoddy craftsmanship as an excuse for how old the sword actually is). Oh, by the way, this sword is HUGE, taller than Aslan himself. Come on, this is a Space Marine but I'm still an ORK at heart, psh.
Anyway here're the pictures, I hope you enjoy:
LOL
The plan
Right, I hope you enjoyed.
I want to start sculpting the robes tonight and finish the first part of the sculpting, and then I can get up in the morning and continue right away. (Trying to finish before Sunday)
I anticipate the sculpting will be in four stages, the start of the robes, the finishing of the robes, the hood and finally the detailing. However I might just get impatient and try and start the hood during the first part of the robes. We’ll all see. I’m not wanting a perfect model, just good enough to look good in the end.
Any C&C is appreciated as always and I hope you enjoyed.

Re: Aslan, the Dark Prince
Good work man, he's coming on well. Is he made entirely out of Chaos parts?
I've got the parts out to start making Brother Achellion but I haven't been able to start tearing parts up yet. I'm dreding cutting the MkV legs, and I think extending them is going to be a pain but to the power feeds on the MkV thigh armour, but I shall have to persist!

Update (Day 3)
It is indeed.Dan wrote:Also is that a ceremonial blade that I spy?
He is indeed with the exception of the arms, pauldrons and incoming heavy bolter, I’m hoping he looks dark and ‘Heresy’ pattern but not too Chaos-looking. Hopefully the Astartes equipment will help tell that his allegiance is with the Emperor.chrispcarter wrote: Is he made entirely out of Chaos parts?
UPDATE:
Started on the robes, not very smooth and still in the works but the greenstuff has cured now so I’m about to add/finish and then finally I can add the details and he’ll be pretty much finished albeit for the heavy weapon, arms, etc. Could probably start painting, or at least priming, him before the big debut (Sunday) where I could even glue on the parts.
I hope you enjoy and do look forward to the next instalment where the robes will pretty much be done. I can add trophies and accessories onto him then.
Re: Aslan, the Dark Prince
He's definitely starting to take form; I don't envy you having to sculpt all the robes!

Update (Finished)
I regret to not have put up more WIP pictures but the model is indeed finished, all that is left is painting which I'll put up as soon as I start in the painting log section.
Without further ado here is the Prince:
I'm sorry for the bad quality pictures, but you get the idea. If you want any more pictures give me a shout and I'll out them up.
I hope you enjoyed, C&C welcome, and I hope you look forward to the painting. I know I am.

Update (Started painting)
Here he is with some paint on him. I'd say he's nearly finished, albeit some minor details like the pistol holster, the sword, the left arm, maybe the right shoulder pad (Ravenwing is black despite the dark green of the chapter.), etc.
Here he is:
I hope you enjoyed.

Update (Finished)
Here's the man of the hour, Aslan, all finished, painted and ready to give the GM a headache:
Sorry for the bad pictures, I hope you enjoyed, C&C welcome, thanks for reading.
EDIT: Just realised how crap the pictures are. If tomorrow is a nice day I'll take some pictures outside.

Nice work mate, I feel I have to attempt some paint work on mine now, blast it.
That cloak looks almost leathery in it's aspect, I like it.
